Women’s Self-Defense Institute donates 4 RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) Classes in honor of V-Day to Raise Funds for Oasis – A Haven for Women and Children
Women’s Self-Defense Institute has donated 4 Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Classes to support V-Day West Orange, NJ performances on March 29 & 30, 2008. V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder, Eve Ensler’s award winning play The Vagina Monologues. 2008 marks V-Day’s 10 year anniversary. In 2007, more than 3000 V-Day events took place in the U.S. and around the world. To date, the V-Day movement has raised over $50million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it, crafted international education, media and PSA campaigns, launched the Karama program in the Middle East, re-opened shelters, and funded over 5000 community-based anti-violence programs and safe houses in Kenya, South Dakota, Egypt and Iraq. The “V” in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina. Women’s Self-Defense Institute is supporting Evolucao working in collaboration with The Center for Conscious Living in West Orange, NJ to raise funds for Oasis - A Haven for Women and Children in Paterson, NJ. Oasis - A Haven for Women and Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing food and clothing to women and their young children, and offering educational opportunities to help women compete in today’s marketplace. Their aim is to provide the tools necessary to foster economic independence. There will be two performances of The Vagina Monologues - one each on March 29th & 30th, 2008. There will be a silent auction 1 hour before each performance to raise funds for Oasis – A Haven for Women and Children in Paterson, NJ. Performances will take place at the Center for Conscious Living located at 662 Eagle Rock Avenue, West Orange, NJ 07052. Admission is $20 per person. Performance time is 8pm on Saturday, March 29th and 3pm on Sunday, March 30th. Come out, enjoy the performances and help raise funds for women and children in need in our community.
