RAD - Rape Aggression Defense System
Our RAD Instructional Objective:
"To develop and enhance the options of self defense, so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked."
What is RAD?
Rape Aggression Defense System is one of the best women's self defense course available. RAD is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. It is a comprehensive self defense course for women that begins with awareness, pevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defensive training.
We operate on the premise that a spontaneous violent attack will stimulate a natural desire to resist on the part of the victim. We educate women by enhancing their options of physical defense as being not only prudent, but also a necessity if a natural resistance is to be effective. The Rape Aggression Defense System empowers women to make their own decisions regarding self-preservation and self-defense options.
RAD is not a martial arts program. Our courses are taught by certified instructors and provide you with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire physical defense program for referenece and continuous personal growth.
The Rape Aggression Defense System is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assaults by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. Our system of realistic defense will provide a woman with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance.
Why RAD?
With over 7,000 instructors certified and over 300,000 women trained, RAD Systems is the country's largest and fastest growing self-defense program for women and children.
The RAD Systems curriculum is taught at over 400 colleges/universities and police departments across the United States and Canada. It is the only self-defense program ever to be endorsed by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).
RAD sets the national standard in self-defense instructor certification; and is internationally recognized for its programming quality and organizational commitment to excellence. RAD Systems balances the needs of women to acquire self-defense education in a relatively short period of time with the life long commitment required for physical skill mastery. How? By providing short term training opportunities in a progressive building block format and combining each with RAD's trademark Lifetime Return and Practice Policy!
While other programs and/or instructors struggle to keep pace, RAD's international alliance of instructors unite in offering practical options for responding to increasing acts of violence against women. We offer life-long opportunity for physical skill mastery by providing our Lifetime Return and Practice Policy.
The RAD Class
The RAD class is taught over a period of 12 hours that consist of four evening classes of 3 hours each. The first class is an overview and discussion on risk reduction and prevention. The next two classes consist of learning and practicing physical defense moves. The final class is a simulation of an attack. This is the class where everything the student learns comes together.
The students must attend all four classes to complete the course. Simulation is strictly voluntary and the students can still complete the class if they choose not to volunteer; but they must be present. The vast majority of women who perform the simulation leave with a feeling of empowerment.
Free Return Policy
Once a woman has graduated from the class, she becomes a lifetime member. Once completing the class, the student/alumni can go anywhere in the United States and Canada where RAD is offered and attend a class for free, providing that there is room in the class. They can attend the entire course or just a simulation to brush up on their techniques.
